Independent Grocery Alliance (IGA) is an Australian supermarket chain. The company was founded in 1988. IGA is a subsidiary company of Metcash and headquarters of the company is located in Macquarie Park, New South Wales. Although IGA is owned by Metcash, individual IGA stores are owned independently. Assistant Store Manager: You will be supporting the Store Manager in maximising the overall financial targets of the Metcash store. You will be expected to act within the company guidelines. You will be responsible for the development and coaching of the employee team at your store to ensure high standards of customer service are consistently delivered.
Prerequisite: Previous experience in general management of a retail team including recruitment and on the job training of team, as well as holding staff accountable and managing the disciplinary process.
Buyer: Your performance will be critical to the success of the merchandising team at the store. As a Buyer, you will work closely with Metcash’s suppliers to ensure a win-win outcome for both the stores and customers. You will use your industry knowledge and category management experience to source the best deals for the stores and identify new products, turning these into amazing promotional programs, and own the relationships with our suppliers that will see your range hit the shelves.
Prerequisite: Strong experience in category management.
Channel Range and Price Manager: You will incorporate data analytics and shopper-based insights to underpin a flexible ranging offer inclusive of pricing & promotions, and develop the most profitable store strategies.
Prerequisite: 10 years of experience in FMCG or retail.

Step 1 – Go to the career website of IGA that is devoted to showing job opportunities at IGA stores in Australia.
- You will see two links. One link is “VIEW STORE LOCATOR”. If you are searching for a job at an IGA store, click the link and find your local IGA store(s). Then you will need to contact your local store(s) for employment because all IGA stores have different owners and operators.
- If you are searching for a job at a Metcash Food & Grocery store, click the red “POSITIONS AT METCASH” link.
Step 2 – After you click “POSITIONS AT METCASH”, you will be redirected to a new web page. Click the orange “MAKE A DIFFERENCE NOW” button to advance to the job list page.
Step 3 – The job list page is something like this. You can filter results by entering keywords such as title, location and date. Then click either “Search Jobs” or “Filter”.
Step 4 – You will see the list of job openings at Metcash according to your search criteria. Click a job title when you encounter an interesting job position on the list.
Step 5 – Read the job description in its entirety. If you are sure to apply, click one of the orange “Apply now” buttons at the top and bottom of the page.
Step 6 – You will need to sign in or create a new account to continue your application. Click “Create an account” if you don’t have any.
Step 7 – Now enter your email address, choose a password and enter your name. Select your country and residence. Accept the data privacy statement if you do. Then click the blue “Create Account” button.
Step 8 – A new page will open. Scroll down and find the My Documents section. Upload your resume (this is required).
Step 9 – Similarly to Step 8, provide profile information, details about your previous employment, your education level, and some job-specific information on the same page. After you finish entering information, click “Apply”.
